OUR TEAM

Hi! I’m Chelsea. I’ve been a part of the Symbols team since 2015! Before joining the Vancouver location, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of British Columbia. During my undergrad, I began volunteering for the One To One Children's Literacy Program. I also have experience working as an Education Assistant in elementary schools. Then, I became a certified Expressive Arts Therapist and have had the opportunity to work with kids in the Surrey Schools District. I have had the opportunity to hold space for children where they feel safe to explore, play, and lead with their imagination. With over ten years experience working with kids and teens in both group and 1-1 settings, it is a privilege to witness their growth as they overcome academic and personal challenges, and shift into confident, resourceful, and capable individuals! I was born and raised in Vancouver. I grew up immersed in art-based activities, like dance, theatre, spoken word poetry, and visual arts classes. During my free time, I enjoy creating art, taking dance classes, cooking with my partner, Steven, and finding time to go to the beach (even in the winter!) to be near the water. As a long term member of the Symbols team, it has been amazing being a part of their growth and expansion. I am so grateful to be able to work with these amazing kids and the adults in their lives. I’m looking forward to getting to know you!

Hello, my name is Alysha! I am a graduate from Brock University with my Bachelor's degree in English. After living my whole life in Ontario, I packed my car up and made the drive to B.C. with aspirations of becoming a teacher. I've been tutoring for well over a year and have loved being involved with the one-on-one process of students learning. My favourite part about working within the space of education is that I'm constantly learning myself! In my free time you might find me cooking, reading, practicing yoga, biking, golfing, hiking or trying any new activities that involve the great outdoors. I've recently taken up skiing and can't wait to explore more of what this beautiful province has to offer!

Hi! My name is Elisabeth and I am passionate about helping others reach their full potential. This passion was reinforced during my high school years when I became a tutor. I then went on to study psychology at the University of British Columbia and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. Through my position at Symbols, I aspire to build children's self-confidence and teach them that they can achieve anything that they set their minds to do. Outside of work, I enjoy working out, going hiking and doing any activities that allow me to be active. During my free time, you may also find me reading or building a Lego set. Looking forward to meeting you!

Hello! I'm Hannah. I have a Bsc degree in Psychology and a qualification to teach English as a second language. I'm currently studying for a masters in counselling and work at Symbols part-time. I love meeting and getting to know new students, finding out about their interests, and tailoring lessons to their needs. I believe learning should be enjoyable, so I do my best to keep things fun and engaging! When I'm not working or studying, you'll find me cycling around the seawall or off on an adventure somewhere!

Hello, my name is Daniela and I am happy to be working here at Symbols. I am a Simon Fraser University graduate, where I did my Master's degree in Educational Leadership. I have been here in Vancouver for four years now. I am happy to be working here and look forward to all the next adventures. I enjoy reading, taking walks on beaches and in parks, and drinking coffee. Since I moved to Vancouver, I have developed an interest in wildlife and nature. I enjoy reading about activities, sightseeing, and new foods to try here in Vancouver. Moving to Vancouver has helped me discover a new culture and that there are always new adventures awaiting.
