One-to-One

All Symbols lessons are one-to-one. This ensures that the student receives the tutor’s undivided attention.  Multisensory tutoring is always most effective when delivered one-to-one.

Individualized

Our lessons are all individualized and uniquely prepared. They are not delivered from a canned program or a textbook.  Each lesson is uniquely tailored to the needs and progress of each student, with the student’s term goals in mind.

Multisensory and Orton Gillingham Based

All lessons are multisensory, OG based and as active and lively as possible.

One Hour Long, at Least Twice Weekly

Students come for two to five lessons per week, and all lessons are one hour in length. We will normally not see students only once per week, as we find that a one-week gap between lessons is too long for most students, and the resulting slow progress can be detrimental to their self esteem.

Help in Reading, Writing and Math

Most of our students see us for help with reading and writing, but several also come for help with math, either in addition to the reading and writing lessons, or only for math lessons. Our math lessons also follow the OG based multisensory approach, and Symbols tutors who deliver the math lessons have been specifically trained and certified in tutoring multisensory math.
